Candidates for this position should be highly motivated with a strong capability for critical thinking, a broad range of quantitative research and analysis skills, considerable proficiency using computers, and a particular interest in transportation.

A recent B.S. or B.A. degree in economics, engineering, statistics or operations research would generally provide good preparation; other majors that involve quantitative methods could also be considered. I

Valuable skills include:
Efficient, self-directed internet and library research and data gathering;
Data analysis (including basic statistics and econometrics);
Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS);
Modeling (including travel demand modeling and simulation);
Clear, effective writing and communications
An interest in transportation-related work or research experience is a plus.
