Software Engineer

Overall Function:
This software engineer will be part of a software engineering team to design, develop, implement, and maintain an automated high-throughput genomics analysis system with a hybrid cloud-local computational architecture
Major Responsibilities:
Develop an automated genomic analysis system in a hybrid cloud-local computational architecture
Develop new analysis tools and integration/optimization solutions for existing tools in Linux/UNIX environment
Develop a web application for the management and information retrieval/viewing interfaces for this genomic analysis system
Develop related auxiliary software tools for desktop applications
Draft internal scientific report and peer-reviewed publications

Experience & Educational Requirements:
PhD degree, or MS degree with at least 2-year work experience, or BS degree with at least 4-year work experience
Degree(s) in computer science or engineering, software engineering, information science or engineering, electric engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and/or distributed systems
Proven proficient coding skills in both Java and C++ are required, as the major part of the job is coding
Proficiency in working with Linux/UNIX operating systems
Past experience in web application development using Java Servlet/JSP
Past experience in software development
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficient with major NGS, genomics, and bioinformatics tools and resources
